The Role
As a Non-Executive Director, you will play a key role in supporting and constructively challenging the executive team, ensuring the organisation operates with strong governance, financial discipline, effective workforce oversight and consistently high standards of care.

You will be expected to act objectively, bring external perspective, and uphold the highest standards of integrity and probity. Key responsibilities include:
* Support the Board in ensuring robust governance, assurance and risk management arrangements.
* Contribute to the development and oversight of:
* Business planning and organisational priorities
* Financial sustainability and efficiency
* Workforce strategy, culture and leadership development
* Systems, processes and digital enablement
* Support effective relationships with the shareholder Trust, commissioners and key external stakeholders.
* Ensure the organisation operates in line with NHS values, regulatory requirements and best practice.
* Act as a sounding board and mentor to senior leaders where appropriate.
* Contribute to Board committees as required (depending on skills and experience).
* Regular attendance at Board and Committee meetings in person is required.

The Person
We are seeking individuals with senior‑level experience who can bring sound judgement, credibility and confidence at Board or equivalent level. Candidates may come from NHS, wider public sector, regulated environments or relevant private or third sector backgrounds.
You will be able to demonstrate:
* Significant experience operating at Board or equivalent senior leadership level.
* A strong understanding of governance, assurance and risk.
* The confidence to challenge constructively while building effective working relationships.
* Strategic thinking combined with pragmatic decision‑making.
* A commitment to company values and public service.
The Board is particularly interested in individuals who bring depth in one or more of the following areas:
* Estates, Facilities and Capital Projects.
* Finance, audit, investment or commercial oversight.
* Workforce, organisational development or HR governance.
* Clinical governance, quality or patient safety.
* Transformation, systems change or digital enablement.
* Operating or scaling services within complex organisations.
Previous Non‑Executive experience is welcomed but not essential; strong first‑time NED candidates with the right skills and mindset are encouraged to apply.
Time Commitment & Remuneration
Approximately 1–2 days per month, including Board and committee meetings. Remuneration is aligned to NHS subsidiary expectations. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
