About the role
As a Specialist Intervention Teacher, you’ll play a vital role in delivering tailored educational packages for children and young people with complex needs. You’ll work flexibly across schools, homes, and other settings to provide direct teaching in core subjects, mentoring, and strategies that enable positive outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting CYP with SEND through a child-centred approach, advising and modelling strategies for staff.
2. Acting as Lead Professional for cases where placements have broken down or transitions are required.
3. Collaborating with schools, families, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
4. Contributing to the SEND Support Line, offering informed advice and practical solutions.
5. Monitoring progress and using data to measure impact.
This is a mobile role requiring travel across localities, so a full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
6. Qualified and experienced: You’ll hold QTS and have experience working with children and young people with a range of SEND needs.
7. Collaborative and solution-focused: Able to build strong relationships with schools, families, and professionals, and approach challenges with creativity and resilience.
8. Organised and adaptable: Skilled at managing a varied caseload, meeting deadlines, and responding to changing priorities.
9. Tech-savvy and resourceful: Confident in using ICT tools and creating learning resources to engage CYP effectively.
Additional training in SEND and a post-graduate qualification would be an advantage.
