Are you passionate about creativity, design, and supporting student learning?
Do you have the skills and experience to assist a vibrant Art & Design department in a secondary school setting?
If so, this exciting interim role as an Art & Design Technician at a welcoming school in Leyland could be perfect for you.
Your new role
We are recruiting for a friendly and supportive secondary school in the Kirkham area, seeking an Art & Design Technician to join their creative Design & Technology department. The role involves working closely with teaching staff to prepare materials, maintain equipment, and support practical art and design lessons. You’ll play a key role in helping students explore their creativity in a safe and inspiring environment.
This is a long-term temporary role starting in September on a full-time basis. For the right candidate, this could extend to a permanent position.
Responsibilities include:
* Preparing and maintaining materials and equipment for art and design lessons, ensuring everything is ready and safe for student use.
* Supporting teaching staff during practical sessions by setting up workspaces, assisting with demonstrations, and helping students with tools and materials.
* Managing and organising resources, including ordering supplies, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring proper storage of materials and student work.
* Ensuring health and safety compliance in the art room by maintaining clean, hazard-free environments and following relevant safety procedures.
* Assisting with displays and exhibitions, helping to showcase student artwork around the school and during special events.
What you'll need to succeed
* Experience or qualifications in art, design, or a related field.
* Good knowledge of art and design techniques, including familiarity with various art forms, health and safety procedures, materials, and processes.
* A proactive and organised approach to supporting practical lessons.
* Flexibility and a willingness to work as part of a team.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
What you'll get in return
* A competitive daily wage, based on your experience.
* Accrued holiday pay, with flexibility to take it throughout the year.
* Free and up-to-date online safeguarding training.
* Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant throughout your placement.
* A chance to earn £250 in vouchers when you refer a friend to Hays! (terms apply).
Please note: If you are NOT a passport holder of the country for the vacancy, you might need a work permit. Check our Blog for more information.
