Main duties and responsibilities
The Student Success Project Officer will be responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential student records as well as reporting on student progress from various data sources. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to co-ordinate and organise events such as student social activities. You’ll focus on building student ‘belonging’, and a sense of community, with an open and approachable attitude. A large aspect of this role involves encouraging students to connect to opportunities, advising students on their academic progress and aspects of student life such as: time management, seeking support from tutors, using university learning systems and navigating university regulations. You will also be responsible for the line management of the Student Success placement student. Skills and experience required Due to the student-facing aspect of this role it is essential that you have proven experience of supporting students with pastoral and academic-related issues, with particular regard to reducing the race and ethnicity awarding gaps in a Higher Education environment. We are looking for a candidate who is skilled in active listening with strong written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent problem solving, organization and planning, and IT skills. Applications are particularly welcome from individuals who possess an aptitude for report writing and data monitoring and who demonstrate commitment for delivering a personalised level of support for Black, Asian and minority ethnic students. Proven experience of supporting students with pastoral and academic-related issues is essential. Qualifications required The appointee will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
