Recruitment Officer (RO) The Recruitment Officer (RO) acts as the deputy for the Senior Recruitment Officer (SRO) and provides granular oversight and lower-level management responsibilities of recruiting and outreach activity in a specific area. Regular travel1 may be required to the recruitment infrastructure and Recruitment & Attraction (R&A) HQ. Responsibilities The post holder’s primary purpose is to oversee all aspects of recruiting in their area, ensuring recruiting targets are met. This includes personnel, process, outreach, resources, and support to recruitment outputs. In relation to personnel management the post holder is to: Act as the Divisional Officer and First Reporting Officer (1RO) for Recruitment Managers (RMs) and Second Reporting Officer (2RO) for Team Managers (TMs) and the Area Coordinator. Ensuring they maintain sufficient F2F engagement in line with JSP757 to enable them to report accurately and with first-hand evidence. Act as the Line Manager for the E1 Civil Servant Administration Officers and, if applicable, Building Services Co-ordinators. Oversee and support the delivery of termly divisional briefs and area conferences. Oversee the area staff induction process: joining letter, training, DSE, IT, SharePoint access, etc. Conduct Coaching and Mentoring for all staff in their allocated area to maximise their Continual Professional Development (CPD). Oversee the maintenance of staff and MOD mandatory training (including but not limited to NCTs and CPD. In relation to candidate processing the post holder is to: Liaise with key stakeholders (including but not limited to: AIB and R&A HQ) regarding specific applications and to ensure the continued development of processes and policies. Interact and correspond with potential officer candidates preparing to enter the Naval Service, as required. In relation to outreach the post holder is to: Oversee all area outreach activity being co-ordinated and managed by the RMs, TMs and Area Co-ordinator. Support event attendance, when needed. Oversee post event evaluation being co-ordinated and managed by the RMs, TMs and Area Co-ordinator. Network to improve outreach (including but not limited to NRC, AT, Reserve units, training providers, educational, employment, ethnic minority, and youth organisations. In relation to assurance the post holder is to: Oversee and provide accountability for recruiting process and outreach activities. Complete monthly checks highlighted in the Tier 1 & 2 matrix and support Tier 3 audits. Ensure oversight checks for staff compliance with BR3, Unit Standing Orders and ROM. Assure appropriate staff loading of candidates, outreach, and office cover via their area leave / movement tracker. In relation to recruiting support the post holder is to: Act as area Local Security Officer (LSO). Chair area meetings with staff. Ensure all complaints, Freedom of Information Requests (FOIs) and Subject Access Requests (SARs) are processed in a timely manner, liaising with R&A HQ as appropriate. Support Continuous Improvement (CI) in HQ and their allocated area. Assist RTAG on RO training, as required and with reasonable notice. The Job Holder is to undertake recruitment related roles, including outreach, or other functions outside recruiting but within their SQEP as required by SO1 Recruitment. These roles will be undertaken either in person and so aligned to the location and terms of their Limited / Full Commitment or via remote working where applicable. Deputise for the SRO, as required. Accountability The RO is accountable to the SRO. The SRO is the First Reporting Officer (1RO) and the CO Recruiting Force (RF) is the Second Reporting Officer (2RO). The SRO will normally conduct the Mid Period Performance Appraisals (MPARs) Authority The RO is authorised to liaise with the following: Marketing Department, for all promotional and website information. Other Recruiting Force (RF) staff in support of recruitment opportunities. HM Ships and Submarines, RN and RM Establishments, civilian authorities and the public on matters relating to their recruiting and outreach duties. Officers in charge of University Royal Navy Units on graduate recruiting matters. Education establishments, cadet units, youth organisations and any other organisation/society that may benefit the Service recruiting process. All other specialist recruitment and mentoring teams to capitalise on specific branch / spec expertise, including the Attract Teams (ATs) and Specialist Attract Teams (SATs). Officer applicants to enhance their relationship with the RN whilst their applications are being processed. Although the PID is located in Cambridgeshire – this role covers the geographic area of Central and Eastern England – including Derbyshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Leicestershire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bedfordshire and Nottinghamshire
