Site Electrical Commissioning Engineer (LV / MV)
We’re looking for a hands‑on Site Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of electrical commissioning activities across major UK sites. This is a self‑delivery commissioning role, ideal for engineers who are confident being on the tools and owning commissioning from start to close‑out.
If you’re comfortable operating independently on live sites, enjoy problem‑solving in fast‑paced construction or industrial environments, and have strong LV/MV commissioning experience, this is a solid long‑term contract opportunity with likely extensions.
UK Wide – opportunities across North West, Yorkshire, Wales and East of England.
Site-based role – travel and accommodation at contractor’s own expense.
* Contract length: Circa 4 months (strong likelihood of extension)
* Start: ASAP
* Rotations: 10 days on / 4 days off or 5 days on / 2 days off (Mon–Fri)
* Status: Outside IR35 (Ltd Co or CIS Umbrella)
* Eligibility: Full UK working rights required
What you’ll be doing
* Leading and executing on‑site electrical commissioning activities.
* Carrying out inspections, testing, verification and functional performance testing.
* Reviewing drawings and design documentation for compliance with standards and specifications.
* Identifying, troubleshooting and resolving commissioning issues and managing close‑out.
* Producing clear commissioning reports, test evidence and punch lists.
* Coordinating with site stakeholders including engineering, HSE, LOTO and admin functions.
* Supporting safe systems of work, permits and HSE compliance throughout commissioning.
Essential experience (must‑have)
* Hands‑on testing and commissioning of LV & MV switchgear.
* Hands‑on testing and commissioning of CT & VT testing.
* Hands‑on testing and commissioning of Transformer testing.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong knowledge of relevant standards, codes and safe working practices.
* Clear written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with Siemens systems and interfaces.
* Familiarity with structured commissioning plans and close‑out processes.
* Strong HSE mindset with relevant safety certification (NEBOSH / IOSH / equivalent).
* Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
