Job Title: PCA - Pharmacy Patient Care Assistant
Salary: Tier 1 scale of the PCA banding
Location: Willows Veterinary Centre
Job Type: Full Time Position
Hours: 38 hours averaged per week - 1:6 weekend shifts including bank holidays
Your role and responsibilities
The successful applicant will work as part of the Clinical Support Team to provide high standards of patient care and ensure practice standards are maintained at a high quality.
This position offers an opportunity to gain experience in various aspects of patient care, as well as developing pharmaceutical and technical knowledge. You will work in a busy environment as part of a large multidisciplinary team, where no two days are the same. We expect you to take pride in your work, care for patients, and use your initiative to improve pet care.
Our Patient Care Assistants undertake duties as directed by Veterinary Surgeons and/or Registered Veterinary Nurses, including:
1. Preparing medications for patients in line with veterinary instructions and RCVS guidelines
2. Placing orders with suppliers for medications and consumables according to legislation
3. Handling deliveries and ensuring proper storage as per manufacturer instructions
4. Implementing infection control measures and maintaining cleaning schedules
This role is ideal for individuals starting a career in clinical support, with many progressing to veterinary nursing. Full training and support will be provided.
