We are looking for highly skilled SIA Licensed Male/Female Customer Screening Officers to provide a safe and secure environment across the College Group by operating knife arches and carrying out screening of all learners, staff, visitors, and contractors. The role combines professional security duties with a strong customer service focus, ensuring that all entrants feel welcome, respected, and reassured while College policies are followed. You will work - 45hrs per week, Monday to Friday 0800-1700 - Term Time 39 weeks annually and flexible to work across all 10 College Centres within CCC - Westminter, Islington and North East London. A valid SIA Front-Line DS License - essential Confidence in Report Writing, Conceige, Customer Focus and investigatory abilities Experience in a customer-facing role, demonstrating professionalism and approachability. Excellent IT Skills including Microsoft Software Packages (e.g. Excel) Able to achieve an EDBS and vetting to BS7858 Standards What are you going to do: Operate knife arches at entry points to screen all staff, students, visitors, and contractors. Conduct secondary searches where necessary, in line with policy and legal requirements. Politely request that individuals empty their pockets before passing through the knife arch. Detect and manage prohibited or dangerous items, escalating incidents to security or management as appropriate. Communicate the College’s screening policy clearly and professionally to all entrants. Provide a welcoming, customer-focused service while maintaining vigilance and authority. Maintain accurate records of incidents, refusals, or security concerns. Work flexibly across all 10 College centres as directed. Support emergency procedures such as lockdown or evacuation when required. Ensure compliance with safeguarding, confidentiality, data protection, and health & safety guidelines.
