Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist (Devices) - Part-time
An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust for a part-time Highly Specialist Cardiac Devices Physiologist in the Cardio-respiratory Department. The Cardio-respiratory Department operates from both hospital sites, with Cardiac Diagnostics based mainly at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, and a third diagnostic centre at Hollinswood House as part of the national Community Diagnostic Centre programme.
You will be a highly skilled and driven physiologist responsible to the Lead Device Physiologist and Head of Service, contributing to a strong senior team working predominantly in the Cardiac Device service while supporting physiologists across the department. If you do not currently hold BHRS written exam, we can offer a Band 7 annex 21 post to complete this and become a Band 7 once received.
Responsibilities
* The role of the Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist is to provide a high quality, patient-focused, efficient Cardiac Device service within the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust.
* Work in conjunction with the Head of Cardiorespiratory Services and other staff to ensure the service needs are met.
* Assist with a comprehensive implant and follow-up CIED service, including brady devices, ICD/CRT and diagnostic ILR monitoring.
* Maintain and work towards HRUK/IBHRE Accreditation.
* Competent in performing, unsupervised, all routine investigations in the department including holter fitting and analysis, lead in ETT, physiological monitoring in Coronary Angiography. Competency in Echo will be encouraged if required.
* Maintain clinical competencies.
* Support and facilitate the training and assessment of physiologists, medical, technical and nursing staff.
Environment and Team
The Cardiorespiratory Department is a large team split across two main sites with a third smaller diagnostic hub at Stafford. The Cardiac Device team is based at PRH, with inpatient requests across the Trust and sometimes domiciliary work. Echo, admin and respiratory specialties within Cardiorespiratory work closely together to provide a cohesive, supportive environment.
