Deputy Medical Director – Surgical Services (South Coast Region)
Clinical Leadership Opportunity | Part-Time (4–5 Days per Week)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced medical leader to join the senior management team of a leading independent healthcare provider, overseeing surgical services across two high-performing South Coast sites.
As Deputy Medical Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the clinical strategy, driving quality improvement, and fostering a culture of professional excellence. Working in partnership with the Regional Medical Director and wider leadership team, you’ll lead service transformation initiatives, mentor medical colleagues, and help steer operational, financial, and governance objectives.
This position is ideal for an established consultant seeking a balanced leadership and clinical role, combining strategic influence with direct patient care.
Key Details:
* Leadership Commitment: 2 days per week dedicated to management and governance.
* Clinical Commitment: Additional clinical sessions available (up to 4–5 days FTE or 80%).
* Contract Type: Permanent, part-time or full-time equivalent.
* Location: South Coast region (multi-site remit).
About You:
We’re looking for a dynamic and collaborative leader with a passion for clinical excellence and innovation. You will bring:
* GMC Specialist Registration.
* At least 5 years’ experience at Consultant level (or equivalent).
* Proven leadership or management experience within the NHS or independent sector.
* Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to lead across diverse teams and services.
* A track record of delivering high standards of care, quality improvement, and governance.
