About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to support pupils with a variety of needs—including physical, behavioural, medical, and emotional. You’ll play a key role in ensuring all students have equal access to learning and opportunities for development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils based on their individual education plans.
* Assist in classroom management and preparation of learning resources.
* Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being in line with school policies.
* Support pupils with special educational needs during lessons, break times, and off-site activities.
* Assist with personal care, first aid, and implementing specific medical or behavioural strategies when required.
* Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
What We’re Looking For:
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience supporting children with special educational needs.
* A caring, patient, and flexible attitude.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Teaching/Classroom Support, or significant experience in a similar role.
* A commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of the National Curriculum, especially in literacy and numeracy.
* Understanding of child development and behaviour management strategies.
* Previous experience in a primary school setting.
