Due to the space we innovate in, your products will process billions of transactions per day in real-time and power both startup and established industry participants. As a Senior Platform Engineer with expertise in Release Engineering, you will play an integral role in ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of high-quality software to production. Collaborating closely with development teams, product managers, and system administrators, you will manage and optimise the software release process, reducing disruptions and maximising reliability.Duties/ResponsibilitiesRelease Process Management: Assist in the design and management of the software release process and tooling, ensuring it is well-organised and efficient. Support the implementation of release management best practices, including version control, deployment and rollback strategies, and release planning.Deployment and Automation: Collaborate on the development and maintenance of automation pipelines for software deployment, contributing to swift and dependable releases. Assist in the implementation and improvement of continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate the deployment process. Contribute to configuration management and infrastructure automation efforts to support the deployment process.Documentation and Training: Assist in the creation of release documentation, guidelines, and best practices to guide development and operations teams. Participate in training sessions to ensure teams understand and follow the release process effectively. Support the promotion and enforcement of best practices for managing release artifacts.Release Monitoring and Optimisation: Collaborate in monitoring release performance and identifying bottlenecks in the deployment process. Assist in the optimisation of the release pipeline to ensure efficient software delivery. Support the implementation of logging and monitoring solutions to provide real-time insights into the release process and potential issues.Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with development teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between release activities and business goals. Assist in communicating release updates, enhancements, and changes to relevant teams. Participate in post-release reviews and provide recommendations for improvement.Technical Leadership: Offer support and guidance to junior engineers on release management best practices and procedures. Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies in release management.Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Experienced platform engineer with knowledge of build and release management.Experience designing and building automation pipelines for software deployment.Experience with Agile development methodologies and an iterative approach to delivering software.Required Skills/AbilitiesFamiliarity with modern programming languages (Java, Python, Go) and configuration management tools (LaunchDarkly).Knowledge of software release methodologies (Blue/Green, Canary), GitOps, CI/CD practices, and infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible).Expertise in containerisation (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) and deployment tooling (ArgoCD).Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Work Environment: This job operates in an office environment.Please note this is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
