Position Overview
HH Construction are looking for a motivated Vehicle/Diesel Mechanic to maintain our fleet of company vehicles.
You will be a key member of our team ensuring all vehicles are serviced and repaired to manufacturers specifications.
The role will include, but not limited, to servicing, repairs, diagnostics and tyres. The right individual will have their own tools however the most up to date diagnostics equipment is on hand.
You will be involved in the day to day running of the vehicles including preplanned maintenance, mot preps, repairs and be able to allocate time accordingly .
A knowledge of working with plant equipment would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given.
Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections and diagnostics of vans to identify mechanical, electrical, and technical issues.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks to ensure vans are in good condition.
Repair and replace van components and systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering etc.
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and techniques.
Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on each van.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with safety standards.
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance and repair tasks.
Assist in maintaining an inventory of parts, tools, and equipment needed for efficient repairs.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and fleet managers to provide status updates on repairs and maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; formal technical training or certification in automotive mechanics is preferred.
Proven experience as a van mechanic, with a solid understanding of van systems and components.
Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and address mechanical issues.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in order to diagnose complex problems.
Knowledge of safety protocols and able to adhere to safety guidelines.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Effective communication skills to explain technical issues and repairs to non-technical staff
Valid driver's license is required to move vans within the facility.
Rates are to be negotiated DOE.
