Health & Safety Advisor
Location: South East England (primarily Greater London and surrounding counties). Employment type: Full-time. Seniority level: Mid‑Senior.
Overview
My client, an innovative Health and Safety specialist business, seeks an H&S Advisor to meet growing demand from both new and existing clients. The successful candidate will be H&S qualified, must hold a certificate in Fire Safety, and bring a creative mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire rather than intimidate clients.
Purpose of the Job
Deliver outstanding H&S consultancy service, offering expert advice, guidance and support to manage and reduce health and safety risks, and to improve internal H&S processes.
Key Tasks / Accountabilities
* Conduct site visits, inspections and compliance audits to identify hazards and risks.
* Provide onsite or remote H&S management and consultancy support.
* Develop and implement bespoke health and safety processes and procedures compliant with UK legislation and industry standards.
* Advise clients on risk assessments, accident investigations, compliance and emergency planning.
* Deliver safety awareness programmes to employees.
* Help clients see well‑developed safety systems as a business benefit.
* Assist clients in obtaining health and safety certifications such as ISO 45001.
* Build client relationships to promote the organisation and secure new opportunities.
* Ensure consistent delivery of standards across all projects and offices.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Health and Safety work experience with a proven track record of high‑quality advice and support.
* Experience carrying out Fire Risk Assessments.
* Strong knowledge of UK health and safety regulations and best practices.
* NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification, including Fire Safety.
* Experience completing health and safety audits and implementing action plans.
* Ability to interpret and convey health and safety advice to third parties.
* Prioritise work to complete tasks in an organised and timely manner.
* Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
* Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Outstanding attention to detail.
* Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Project.
* Ability to work autonomously and flexibly in response to business needs.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the South East.
* Understanding of diverse working cultures, professions, businesses and industries.
