A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
My name’s Ezra (he/they) and I am a 20-year-old power wheelchair user living in the Cathays area of Cardiff. I am a trans man, so it is important to me that my PA is trans friendly and will address me with the correct name and pronouns. I am an archaeology student, completing my final year of my bachelor’s degree, while outside of academics I enjoy playing video games, sewing, listening to punk music and making art.
I am a full-time wheelchair user out of the house, with limited mobility, meaning I can only stand and walk for short periods e.g. to walk to the kitchen or bathroom. Chronic fatigue, body pain and joint pain further mean I spend a lot of time in bed, so help with upkeep of my surroundings is important to me.
PURPOSE OF JOB
I need support with upkeep of my home, hygiene, nutrition and healthcare. I need assistance with cleaning, personal hygiene and food preparation twice a week. This may include tasks such as clothes washing, changing the bedsheets, vacuuming, cleaning my bathroom, taking out bins, medication sorting and food prep etc.
PLACE OF WORK
I live on the edge of Cathays and Roath, and most work will be completed within the home. I live with four other people, my partner Joseph, and three of our friends, who are all very friendly and often bustling about. Jobs may need to be completed in my (downstairs) bedroom, downstairs bathroom, living areas, kitchen and upstairs bathrooms.
Occasionally, I may require help with medical visits, shopping and other tasks outside of the house. I really enjoy getting out into nature where possible too, so having a drivers license and a vehicle is ideal.
HOURS OF WORK
I have 4 and a half hours a week of agreed support, which I would like to split into 3 hours of support early in the week and one and a half hours at the end of the week. This will most likely be midday on Monday and Friday, though I will need to keep this flexible due to appointments and university timetabling. This may also change depending on the tasks I require help with each week.
