Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Sensory Processing Needs Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire Start Date: September 2025 Salary: £85 - £100 per day (based on experience) Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only | Temp to Perm Potential The Opportunity: We are seeking a caring, proactive, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Key Stage 2 with sensory processing difficulties. This full-time role begins in September 2025 and is ideal for someone passionate about inclusive education with an understanding of how sensory needs affect learning and behaviour. Your Role: As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting a pupil’s daily school experience. The child may struggle with sensory input, transitions, focus, and emotional regulation. You’ll offer calm, structured, and personalised support throughout the day. Key Responsibilities: Support the child with transitions, engagement, and regulation throughout the school day Implement sensory strategies and calming techniques Adapt classroom resources to meet the child’s sensory needs Collaborate with teachers, SENDCo, and external professionals Foster a safe and structured environment during class and unstructured times (break/lunch) Use visual supports and sensory tools to reduce anxiety and aid communication Keep clear and consistent records of the child’s progress and development About the School: The school is a welcoming and inclusive primary setting in Hemel Hempstead, known for its nurturing ethos and commitment to every child’s well-being.
