Overview
As a Pharmacy Dispenser, you will be an integral part of a dynamic and driven team, contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of healthcare services in a fast-paced remote dispensing pharmacy environment. Under the guidance of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, you will ensure the accurate, timely, and safe remote dispensing of prescribed medications to patients. Your role will involve maintaining patient medication records, supporting the operational efficiency of the pharmacy by assisting with stock management, maintaining a safe working environment, and delivering excellent customer service. This role supports a remote ADHD-focused dispensing service, with prescriptions issued by external clinicians and no direct patient interaction.
Duties
PEOPLE
* Provide excellent customer service across all communication channels, including by phone, and electronically, always ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.
* Support a positive and collaborative team environment, contributing to the achievement of pharmacy goals and high standards of service.
OPERATIONS
* Accurately dispense prescriptions, with a particular focus on controlled drugs, in accordance with SOPs and legal requirements, ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance.
* Use our Patient Medication Record platform, Connect to receive, track, and process prescriptions from external prescribers, ensuring data integrity and timely updates throughout the dispensing workflow.
* Prepare medication orders for remote delivery, ensuring all required documentation, checks, and packaging protocols are completed to the highest standard.
* Maintain meticulous dispensing records, including CD registers, always ensuring full traceability and audit readiness.
* Ensure rigorous checks for controlled drug handling, including double-checking processes, destruction protocols, and reconciliation against prescriptions and stock.
* Assist in the daily management of stock, including ordering, receiving, and appropriate storage of medicines, with a particular emphasis on controlled drug accountability.
* Support the team in achieving operational excellence by contributing to efficient workflows and clear communication across the team.
GOVERNANCE
* Dispense medications in accordance with prescriptions, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
* Carry out dispensing tasks in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring the safe transfer of dispensed items to patients preventing medication errors.
* Accurately record patient medication information to ensure patient safety, in line with data protection laws and confidentiality requirements.
* Ensure the safe storage of medicines, complying with storage guidelines and regulatory requirements to maintain product integrity and patient safety.
* Identify and report any medication-related problems, discrepancies, errors or concerns to the pharmacist for further investigation.
* Participate in regular internal audits, stock checks, and CD balance reconciliations, ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations and internal protocols.
* Keep up to date with mandatory training, medical updates, and pharmacy-specific knowledge to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care.
TECHNOLOGY
* Use the Connect platform as the primary system for managing prescriptions, recording interventions, and communicating with prescribers, patients and internal teams.
* Demonstrate proficiency in using pharmacy management systems for dispensing, stock control, and patient record maintenance in a remote service setting.
* Operate and manage Royal Mail Tracked 24 delivery services, ensuring secure, timely, and traceable dispatch of medication parcels, including appropriate labelling and integration with delivery workflows.
* Assist in identifying and resolving technical issues related to Connect, dispensing software, or delivery systems, escalating where appropriate to ensure service continuity.
FACILITIES
* Complete all daily operational tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and compliant working environment that supports optimal pharmacy operations with special attention to controlled drug storage and security requirements.
* Any other activities as required by the business.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 4 GCSEs (C grade or above)
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent dispensing qualification)
