Marketing & Media Strategist
SHIFT Active Media is looking for a Strategist with a passion for cycling, the outdoors, and creative communications.
The role
You’ll work closely with the Chief Strategy Officer, the wider SHIFT team, and our clients to develop brand, media, and integrated communications strategies that help cycling and outdoor brands thrive. You’ll also contribute to the ongoing development of our strategic tools and thought leadership programme.
As a Strategist at SHIFT, you’ll combine creativity, insight, and commercial thinking to shape strategies that guide our clients’ communications across brand, media, PR, social and beyond. You’ll turn complex data and audience insights into actionable recommendations and work collaboratively to deliver integrated, impactful campaigns.
We believe in the power of in-person collaboration, so team members are asked to spend 4 days per week working from our Bath offices.
Experience required
* Experience in a strategy, planning, or insight role within an agency or client-side marketing environment.
* A track record of developing marketing or communication strategies supported by insights and data.
* Experience across multiple disciplines (brand, media, social, PR) is highly desirable.

* Brand and strategy: Able to analyse brands, simplify complex briefs, and develop clear communication strategies.
* Creative execution: Translates consumer insight into practical propositions and messaging across multiple channels.
* Marketing expertise: Strong understanding of marketing principles, channels, and relevant technologies.
* Data-literate: Comfortable using spreadsheets, analytics, and research to support recommendations.
* Collaboration: Works effectively with clients and internal teams to deliver projects on time.
* Communication: Produces clear, structured presentations and written materials.
* Interest in cycling or outdoor activities: An interest in cycling or active lifestyles is beneficial for this role.
What you’ll be doing
Strategy & planning
* Support strategy and planning on key accounts, helping to develop integrated communications plans across brand, creative, PR, media and social.
* Contribute to the development of brand positioning, campaign concepts, and longer-term communication strategies.
Insight & analysis
* Tap into our research team, proprietary data, and external sources to uncover actionable insights.
* Use audience, market, and performance data to guide strategic recommendations.
* Help establish measures for effectiveness and analyse results to inform future plans.
Briefing & collaboration
* Write and deliver clear, discipline-specific briefs for creative, media, PR, and social teams.
* Work cross-functionally to bring campaigns to life and ensure integrated solutions.
* Support the ongoing evolution of SHIFT’s strategic tools and thought leadership.
Effectiveness & innovation
* Track campaign performance, report insights, and make recommendations to optimise impact.
* Stay on top of emerging marketing channels, technologies, and industry trends, including AI tools, and integrate them into your workflow where appropriate.
