We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, effective, proactive leader to join our Fisheries, Biodiversity, and Geomorphology team in the North East. Your work will contribute to helping the Environment Agency create a better place for people and wildlife. Key responsibilities include:
 * Managing health, safety & wellbeing, demonstrating best practice and ensuring your team work in line with our guidance.

 * Managing the performance of your team and supporting team members through change.
 * Supporting your team to provide technical advice into relevant programmes, plans, projects to ensure compliance with legislation as well as habitat creation.
 * Working with colleagues to identify, influence opportunities to deliver multiple benefits for the environment and to work with natural processes.
 * Building effective relationships, working closely with area and national teams.
 * Influencing internal/external stakeholders and managing conflicts that may arise.
 * Responding to environmental incidents.
Experience/skills Required
 * Experience of leading and motivating teams and planning and prioritising work to achieve objectives.
 * Proven ability to lead, inspire and develop a team.
 * Experience of working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
 * An ability to prioritise, make decisions and provide clear direction to the team so that the biggest risks are managed.
 * Evidence of building and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external customers.
 * A desire to participate in our incident‑ready culture, ensuring the team is prepared to respond to incidents and plays its part in the wider Area response to incidents.
 * Experience of managing complex budgets and income streams.
 * Some background in environmental sciences / geography welcomed, but not essential.

Interviews are planned for early December, which will be held face to face at our Newcastle Office.
The base location for this role is Newcastle or Darlington (Newcastle preferred) but we welcome flexible working patterns for all our vacancies, including job share and some working from home is an option.
It would be anticipated that this role would require some travel, principally within the North East, with some very occasional travel farther afield within England.
