Summary
A quick visit from a friendly volunteer can really brighten the day of blind veterans. Can you pop by for a cuppa and a chat?
Detailed description
Can you spare a few hours a week to brighten someone’s day?
We are committed to supporting our blind veterans wherever they are. Our community home visitors provide crucial social interaction for veterans who can’t reach our centres and may feel isolated or lonely.
By visiting once a week or fortnight in their area, home visitors become a friendly face that can make all the difference. Visits may include a simple chat, a cup of tea, helping with small tasks around the home, or assisting with getting out and about. You will never be asked to do personal care.
While working independently in the community, your manager is only a phone call away, and you will be part of a network of volunteers. Volunteers must be over 18 and understand confidentiality and relationship boundaries. The role offers flexibility, but reliability and punctuality are important. Full training and support will be provided to ensure you feel confident and comfortable.
Requirements
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required.
