The Clinical Education Team have a vacancy for two full-time experienced and enthusiastic Practice Educator on a 9 month secondment.
The post holder will work Monday to Friday.
The post holder will have substantial and up-to-date clinical experience, be highly motivated and have excellent communication skills. They will work as part of a growing and creative team and be able to link with the workforce development team on recruitment issues. They will be accountable practitioners, able to work autonomously and have experience of teaching and education initiatives within nursing.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
Education/Staff Development
1. To identify training and development needs of learners and staff within the clinical placement areas in accordance with local and national policies.
2. Create a climate of research awareness to encourage evidence-based practice. To encourage and support staff and students with their critical thinking skills around practice and relevant practice assessments undertaken, supporting their progress.
3. Support those who supervise and assess students in practice in the provision of regular local and relevant teaching and training sessions.
4. Assist in reflection and clinical supervision. Provide clinical supervision within the trust.
5. Be involved in the development and co-ordination of student forums and student training sessions in conjunction with the Education team. The post holder will also be required to deliver training as required.
6. Participate in the training of students and staff to monitor the quality of care delivered using clinical standards and takes necessary action to ensure excellence in nursing practice. Utilises evidence-based research where possible.
7. Assists in the accurate collection of data relating to staff training data and any other data that may be reasonably requested for audit purposes. Protects patient confidentiality and acts according to the Data Protection Act.
8. Uphold quality initiatives that improve ‘customer care’ and enhance the interface between students, staff, patients and visitors and other wards, departments and services within the trust.
9. Link with staff from Clinical Groups to facilitate learning for staff and learners.
10. Support existing multi-professional frameworks
Professional Responsibilities
11. To be accountable for care given and to demonstrate knowledge of the NMC Code.
12. To ensure compliance and implementation of Trust policies and procedures, relevant legislation, Nursing and Midwifery strategy and Clinical Governance standards are understood and practised by staff and learners.
13. Acts according to the Health & Safety Act and manual handling practice.
14. Ensure that all students and practice assessors and supervisors are aware, understand and adhere to the pre-registration scope of practice
15. Practises in accordance with the professional direction as stipulated in the Trust’s Nursing & Midwifery strategy.
16. To take personal responsibility for promoting a safe environment and safe patient care by identifying areas of risk and following the Incident, Serious Incident and Near Misses reporting procedure.
17. Have a visible presence within the clinical setting.
18. Responsible for own professional development and an awareness of clinical educational developments. Agrees own personal, professional and service objectives according to Individual Performance Review with Manager.
Research and Development Responsibilities
19. Actively disseminate research findings as a positive role model through lectures, teaching and other appropriate communication methods
20. Assist in the bench marking of nursing practice and evaluate the impact on new practices implemented.
21. To develop links between placements to enhance student learning, to seek out opportunities within placements that including interprofessional teams in student development.
Management duties / Responsibilities
22. Communicates with staff in all areas of the Trust.
23. Responsible for monitoring performance against competency requirements as described in our partners HEIs, NMC and Trust guidance on pre-registration placements.
24. Participates in the selection and recruitment of pre-registration learners.
25. Awareness of business planning procedure within the Trust.
26. Facilitate sharing of best practice both within the Trust and externally.
27. Attend educational meeting and, if appropriate, deputise for the Placement Development Facilitator when required.

28. Demonstrates specialist expertise in Supervising and Assessing / Education
29. Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
30. Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and supervising and assessing learners

31. Knowledge of a variety of teaching methods, Including simulation and digital delivery of education
32. Knowledge of recruitment, selection and disciplinary procedures.
