Overview
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a rapidly growing engineering business developing next-generation high-power DC charging systems for commercial electric vehicles.
You'll work on complex electro-mechanical and thermal systems, taking designs from concept through prototype and into pre-production. Ideal for engineers with strong CAD, thermal management, liquid cooling and electro-mechanical design experience.
The Role
* Lead mechanical design of high-power charging systems (350kW-1MW+)
* Create concepts, detailed designs and prototype assemblies
* Design liquid cooling systems, heat exchangers and thermal management solutions
* Produce CAD models, drawings and engineering documentation
* Complete feasibility studies, packaging and system integration
* Support prototype builds, testing and commissioning
* Improve manufacturability (DFM/DFA) and product reliability
* Collaborate with electronics, systems and manufacturing teams
* Mentor junior engineers and support process development
Required Experience
* Strong mechanical design background in electro-mechanical, thermal or high-power systems
* Experience with liquid cooling, thermal management or fluid systems
* Proven track record taking products from concept to prototype and pre-production
* CAD proficiency (any major package) + PDM/PLM experience
* Understanding of DFM/DFA and supplier/manufacturing processes
* Hands-on experience with prototype builds, test rigs or assemblies
Desirable
* EV charging, power electronics or HV equipment exposure
* Experience in regulated/technical environments (medical, automotive, aerospace)
* Knowledge of validation testing, instrumentation and data analysis
* Start-up or scale-up engineering environment experience
