The Opportunity: Hire and Transport Controller Contract: Permanent Location: Tottenham Based in North London, we have been delivering high-quality material handling solutions since our establishment in 1994. The Impact you will have: Set up hire agreements and allocate equipment, ensuring all internal processes and procedures are followed. Liaise with the Workshop Manager to arrange Pre-Hire Inspections for all equipment. Plan and coordinate the delivery and collection of equipment using the internal delivery fleet. Assist in the day-to-day management and activity planning of Drivers. Support the management of company vehicles and ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation at all times. Ensure the Workshop has equipment prepared and ready for hire before it leaves site for delivery to customers. Maintain compliance with legislation and provide accurate equipment location information to enable engineers to carry out on-site activities. Accurately raise hire contracts, ensuring correct On-Hire and Off-Hire dates are entered into the Protean system. Ensure all contracts Off-Hired before month-end are closed and invoiced promptly. Prepare and issue hire quotations to clients in a timely and professional manner. Work towards targets set by the Rental and Transport Manager. Keep customers informed of delivery and collection status on a daily basis. Take responsibility for your own health and safety, as well as that of colleagues, ensuring all company policies and procedures are followed at all times. Wear the correct PPE at all times (e.g., high-visibility vest, steel-toe boots). What will help you to excel in this role: Proven experience in people management at departmental level, with responsibility for team performance and development. Strong background in supervising, supporting, and advising staff within a busy depot environment. Solid knowledge and hands-on experience within the materials-handling industry. Demonstrated leadership ability with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong understanding of plant-hire operations and proficiency in industry-specific IT and hire management systems.
