Salary: Grade 2
Hours: 5 Hours Per Week (1 Hour a Day)
The Governing Body wish to appoint two Lunchtime Supervisors to work at
Penygawsi Primary School to complement our existing team.
Purpose of the Job:
To supervise the children, ensuring their safety and wellbeing and good behaviour during lunchtime breaks.
Duties
•To work collaboratively and effectively with all members of staff
•To adhere to and support the school’s behaviour policy at all times
•To ensure pupils are in the correct place at the appropriate time in line with lunchtime arrangements
•To manage the dining queue and supervise the safe and orderly movement of pupils to and from the dining hall
•To promote and encourage good standards of personal hygiene, including handwashing after toileting and before meals
•To maintain confidentiality and act with discretion at all times regarding school matters
•To respond appropriately to minor accidents and injuries on the school premises, using disposable gloves where necessary, reporting serious incidents to the Headteacher, and completing all relevant documentation
•To supervise pupils who remain indoors during lunchtime, for example in cases of poor weather
•To be available to collect pupils from their classrooms at the start of the lunch break
•To carry out any additional duties as requested by the Headteacher, appropriate to the grade of the post
To work as a lunchtime supervisor, the following skills would be helpful:
•A genuine enjoyment of working with children, with the ability to supervise and manage their behaviour appropriately
•A calm, patient and positive approach, even in busy or challenging situations
•The ability to remain composed and respond effectively to incidents or conflicts
•Strong communication skills, enabling positive interaction with pupils and effective liaison with staff
•The ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and follow direction when required
•An understanding of, and commitment to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
•Reliability, punctuality and a responsible approach to duties
•The ability to follow school policies and procedures, including behaviour, health and safety, and confidentiality
•Basic awareness of first aid and willingness to deal with minor accidents appropriately
•Flexibility and willingness to undertake a range of duties as required within the role
