Job title: Lead Data Engineer
Location: Remote - Must be based in UK
Salary: £70,000-£80,000 + Bonus

You will help build and lead the Data & Insights department. Your primary focus will be on building out the Data infrastructure to automate and scale data operations and services.
Duties & Responsibilities
Technical Excellence
•Design, develop and maintain high-quality software solutions. Over time, build a team and delegate operations.
•Use your experience to select the best technology solutions for the task at hand e.g., python script, building full workflow on Microsoft Fabric.
•Use best practice software design patterns for example: SOLID principles and CRUD architecture.
•Utilise CI/CD pipelines where appropriate to ensure efficient deployment processes.
•Apply site reliability engineering principles to enhance system reliability and performance.
•Ensure data governance, quality and security standards are met, in line with industry regulations and best practices.
Leadership and Strategy
•Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
•Define and drive the strategic vision for the Data & Insights department, aligning it with the company’s overall business objectives.
•Lead the recruitment, development and performance management of the Data team, creating an environment of innovation and continuous improvement, whilst retaining talent via mentoring/ coaching.
•Maintain effective working relationships with clients, including attending meetings, producing activity and progress reports and identifying opportunities to exceed client requirements.
Essential Experience Required
•3+ years of experience in software development, including at least 1 year in a leadership role.
•Proven track record in project management, delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
•Proficiency in Python and data visualisation tools (e.g, Power BI, Tableau).
•Strong understanding of software design patterns, cloud deployment, SOLID, CRUD, DRY principles and architectural patterns.
•Experience leading data engineering projects, with a focus on building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, data lakes or lakehouse architectures.
