Role in a nutshell
The Research Manager position involves owning and leading project deliverables for effective research project management. The responsibilities include working both independently and as part of a team, leading the design, execution and analysis of research projects and in tandem, building client relationships for business generation. This is a client-facing role that requires confidence working with others (external and internal teams), an analytical mind, high attention to detail, and a can-do attitude!
Overview of role
Reporting to the Research Director, this is a client-facing researcher role, with responsibility for working on multiple projects at any one time. The Research Manager role is one that involves you being the primary client contact in all phases of the research project as well as leading business development initiatives. You will support the Research Director & Senior Research Manager in mentoring junior members of the team to ensure they have the confidence and skill set to build on client relations and deliver quality research insight. The Research Manager plays a critical role in identifying market opportunities, understanding customer preferences to drive the organization's growth and competitive advantage.
* Lead, design, execute and deliver all aspects of research projects (qualitative & quantitative), recommending new and engaging techniques where relevant
* Support the development of the business through effective account management, identifying opportunities with existing clients in addition to business development activities & pitching to new clients – upsell products & services where possible
* Produce engaging and compelling proposals tailored to a specific brief and client
* Attend client pitch meetings and presentations as required
* Manage end-to-end research projects, including all aspects of planning, budgeting, timelines and stakeholder communication
* Interpret complex data sets and present clear, actionable insights & within set timeframes
* Analysis of qualitative and quantitative data including preparation of research findings in multiple formats to meet client needs.
* Find new and exciting ways to show data, demonstrating a good understanding of client as a commercial/non-commercial organization and specific research project objectives
* Support team members’ development through feedback on their proposals, questionnaires, project design etc, suggest best practice approaches
* Contribute to and proof research project-related documents (e.g., interviewer instructions etc), suggesting amends where suitable to improve content and processes
* Lead on implementing key statistical analysis techniques to embed into projects and questionnaires (e.g., Max Diff, TURF, conjoint, key driver analysis, segmentations etc)
* You will be first point of contact overseeing all projects allocated to you to run and manage, alerting the Research Director if additional support is required. You will help to identify any issues/capacity barriers and find solutions
* You will work closely with other researchers and the Data Team to deliver client-friendly data, in line with requirements and on time
* Give feedback on data deliverables, help find improvements and solutions
* You will be responsible as a senior team member to support others and workloads
* Support the development of the business through effective account management & identifying opportunities with existing clients as well as winning new clients
* Collaborate with Directors to support business strategies and campaigns
* Engage with external parties to bring new thinking, tools and technologies in front of the business, champion new practices and lead by example
Experience
* 3+ years of experience in a market research, insights or analytics role
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
* Exceptional project management skills with experience of managing multiple projects of varying sizes, budgets and complexities simultaneously to a consistently high standard
* Excellent track record in building client relationships
* Consistent experience in delivering insights to a high level including consultative direction
* Strong analytical skills with a flair for data analytics and getting your head into the data and details
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
* Know your Max Diffs from your Turfs, your depth interviews from your vox pops!
* High level of competency in Microsoft Office 365 including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
* A passion for creating excellent written reports and engaging presentations in a very good standard of English
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
Additional Requirements
* Travel according to the needs of the business & projects
* Willing to flex to work outside of standard business hours where client project demands require this
* To undertake further tasks not listed above as instructed by your line manager
