Location: London (Hybrid) | Rate: £900 Per Day (Inside IR35) | Duration: 6 Months
The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-caliber Head of Architecture to lead the technical evolution of a nationally significant financial institution. This is a critical leadership appointment designed to bridge a senior expertise gap. You will serve as the organization's primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Sopra Banking Software (SBS), ensuring our core platform is resilient, scalable, and optimized for a massive digital transformation.
This isn't just an oversight role; you will be the "voice of the platform," challenging global system integrators and steering the architectural roadmap for a mission-critical banking ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
* Technical Authority: Act as the definitive internal lead on SBS/Sopra architecture, ensuring all solutions align with long-term strategic goals.
* Supplier Governance: Assertively challenge and steer technical designs from third-party partners (Sopra, Atos, and SIs) to ensure value and technical integrity.
* Architectural Oversight: Own the end-to-end architectural lifecycle from initial build and integration through to testing and release.
* Modernization and Strategy: Drive the shift toward cloud-native, event-driven architectures (AWS) and lead legacy-to-modern migration workstreams.
* Stakeholder Influence: Translate complex technical requirements into business-aligned roadmaps for C-suite and regulatory stakeholders.
Your Profile
* Sopra/SBS Mastery: Deep, demonstrable experience with Sopra Banking Software is essential. You understand its nuances, limitations, and potential.
* Banking Pedigree: 10+ years in Banking Architecture or Core Engineering, with a track record of delivering large-scale core banking implementations.
* Strategic Challenger: You are comfortable pushing back on vendors and senior stakeholders to protect the architectural integrity of the platform.
* Technical Depth: Proficient in Event-Driven Architecture and AWS Cloud environments; you understand how to modernize legacy systems without disrupting service.
* Lifecycle Ownership: Proven experience managing full-lifecycle delivery within highly regulated, complex financial environments.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience within Public Sector or government-backed financial services.
* Relevant Cloud (AWS) or Enterprise Architecture certifications (TOGAF or similar).
* A background in managing large-scale data migrations and system integrations.
