Offer description

Role Responsibility An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Social Worker with post ASYE experience in the West Disabled Young People's Team. Our team consists of Senior Practitioners, Social Workers and Social Work Assistants and you will work closely with our colleagues in Disabled Children's Social Work Teams and other key agencies, such as Health, Education and the voluntary sector. The team covers a large geographical area and there would be an expectation that you are able to work flexibly across the whole area covered by the team. You will be working with disabled young people aged between 18 and 25 supporting them to progress towards independence. The role within our team will enable you to gain further experience in a wide range of work including Care Act Assessments, Mental Capacity Assessments, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and supporting young people into adulthood. You will be highly motivated and demonstrate excellent social work knowledge, skills and values to deliver the highest quality service to disabled young people, their families and carers. You will hold a Degree in Social Work (CQSW, DipSW or equivalent), be registered with Social Work England and have a variety of post-qualification experience. Kent County Council (KCC) has an extensive training and development programme in place, providing employees with support and opportunities to further develop their knowledge and skills, ensuring they receive regular high-quality supervision. KCC offers a hybrid working model with a combination of home and office working. We offer generous market premium payments (subject to eligibility), a generous annual leave allowance and the Local Government Pension Scheme. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England. This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification. This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence – The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability. Interviews will take place on Tuesday, 30 September 2025 at Worrall House, Kings Hill .
