Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM).
Responsibilities
* Be competent as appropriate to the requirement of the role
* Demonstrate the Trust Values: Kind, Excellent, Together
* Be competent in the assessment and management of inpatients with dysphagia across all acute ward areas at Royal Stoke and County Hospital
* Be skilled in the assessment of communication and the implementation and evaluation of care/support packages
* Demonstrate initiative and autonomy, whilst being creative in finding solutions to problems
* Fulfil supervisory responsibilities as required
* Fulfil work to support service development, as part of the wider SLT team
* Support the training and development of BSc and MSc students
Qualifications
* Essential: Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* Essential: Registration with HCPC
* Desirable: Post Graduate RCSLT accredited dysphagia course
Experience
* Essential: Assessment and management of patients with complex communication and swallowing disorders
* Essential: Experience working within the NHS
* Essential: Experience working within a hospital setting
* Essential: Effective working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Desirable: Ability to prioritise a clinical caseload safely and to delegate to other team members
* Desirable: Experience of instrumental assessment of dysphagia (VF or FEES)
