Work Placement Officer – Maternity Cover

Hours: 37 hours per week
Weeks: 52 weeks per year
Please note, this role is to cover Maternity until April/May 2027, or until the post holder returns

We are recruiting for a Work Placement Officer to join our department where you will be responsible for co-ordinating and arranging work placements for students at Wakefield College, providing support when needed at Selby and Castleford colleges.
As a Work Placement Officer your duties will include:
1. Sourcing and exploring opportunities for student work placements with vocationally relevant employers.
2. Conducting visits to employer premises to monitor the progress of students on their work placement and assess the performance and competence of Early Years students against specific assessment criteria.
3. Building strong relationships with such employers and liaise on candidate suitability.
4. Promoting the value of work experience and work/ industry placements with students, enhancing progression opportunities.
5. Support the delivery of readiness for work experience through group activity.
The role of the Work Placement Officer is varied, and every day is different with new challenges. You will get to meet and support students and employers as you co-ordinate the work placement process.
You will have:
6. GCSEs in Maths and English A*-C/9-4 or equivalent
7. Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent
8. Experience of assessing within Early Years and Childcare, including on T-level Education & Early Years
9. Experience of working with employers in an educational or training setting
