The Role
Reporting to the Field Technical Manager, we are looking for an experienced Farm Manager to manage all of Branston’s own grown crop across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. You will drive the financial and quality aspects of the crop.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with the Procurement Manager to understand what to grow
* Secure the necessary land.
* Select suitable contractors to carry out the work, ensuring timeliness and cost‑effectiveness; conduct annual reviews.
* Produce and manage the farming budget.
* Procure all crop inputs.
* Maintain full control of all costs related to growing and storage of all crops.
* Review the whole operation annually and produce a report with recommendations for the future.
* Ensure that crop quality is monitored throughout the whole season.
* Keep abreast of all areas of the industry and communicate issues that may affect the business to your manager.
* Ensure full compliance with raw material, labour and supplier standards (e.g., Sedex, Red Tractor, Leaf, Agency Management).
* Manage crops through the storage phase.
* Manage portal and stock levels as crop is outloaded.
* Be responsible for any trials carried out through the growing process on Branston farming land.
Qualifications
* Growing experience, ideally root crops
* Strong negotiation skills
* Farmer relationship skills
* Red Tractor and Leaf knowledge
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
* Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced setting, self‑motivation, and prioritisation skills
* FACTS and BASIS qualifications (desirable)
