The Head of Compliance is responsible for overseeing compliance within the Trust, ensuring adherence to all legislation, regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and Fundamentals of Care.
As the compliance leader and subject matter expert, the postholder interprets national guidance, establishes standards, and implements policies and procedures to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the compliance framework and programmes throughout the Trust. This is to identify, prevent, detect, and correct non-compliance with applicable laws and regulations, assuring the Board that quality, safety, and risk are proactively managed.
The postholder also serves as the relationship manager with all regulators, responsible for the Trust's responses before inspections, during inspections, and throughout the follow-up period.
Main duties of the job
* Provide expert advice on external quality and assurance frameworks.
* Lead the development and continuous improvement of the compliance system across the Trust, ensuring all divisions and directorates have systems and processes to evidence the delivery of safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led services. Review relevant standards regularly to ensure compliance with national directives and statutory obligations.
* Develop an annual compliance work plan prioritising high-risk areas based on the Trust's activities.
* Ensure adequate controls are in place to manage compliance risks and recommend actions to address control gaps.
* Incorporate available performance data into assurance systems for the prevention and management of compliance risks.
* Support planning for external reviews and visits by regulatory bodies, including preparing briefings for the Trust Board, committees, Directors, and senior managers.

Note: The starting salary for new NHS staff is typically at the bottom of the pay band unless in exceptional circumstances.

Qualifications
* Masters level education or equivalent
Training
* Understanding of regulatory frameworks and statutory regulations and their organizational impact
* Formal Project or Programme Management training (PRINCE2/MSP or equivalent)
Knowledge
* Knowledge of national governance, regulatory frameworks, and best practices
Experience
* Current NHS or transferable experience
* Experience in quality compliance, information governance, and HSE compliance
* Experience working with executive teams and Boards
Skills
