The AgencyHays is one of the market-leading agencies in the Education sector in Evesham and is currently actively recruiting for SEN Teaching Assistants to assist with a rising demand for supply staff. Hays has built long-lasting relationships with local primary and reception schools in Evesham and has amitment to getting the right candidate in the right schools, with a number of jobs being registered every week.As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil, providing personalised support in a 1:1 setting. Your days will be filled with purpose as you assist the student with their learning journey.What you will be doing/ your responsibilities:
1. Getting the classroom ready for lessons and clearing away afterwards so as to maintain a safe and clean environment
2. Assisting Teachers in preparing the lesson materials and school equipment
3. Recording and reporting children’s progress to the Teacher
4. Helping children stay focused during class hours
5. Supervising group activities, sports events and school outings
6. Helping Teachers manage student behaviour
7. Helping Teachers improving the core skills of children with Special Educational Needs, for example reading, writing or providing 1:1 care
8. Looking after children who are unwell or upset
9. Providing a healthy, engaging and safe learning environment for children
What you’ll need to succeed, skills andpetencies:
10. Understanding of Special Educational Needs ( physical or mental impairment, learning difficulties ( dyslexia), ADHD, ASD)
11. Ability to guide and support children with SEN (ages 5-11)
12. Ability tomunicate clearly and articulately
13. Inquisitive towards children, good relationship building
14. Ability to create an encouraging and appropriate learning environment for children with SEN
15. Empathetic - understanding, encouraging and sensitivity towards children and their needs
16. Ability to carry out tasks involving aputer or hand-device
17. Resilient, ability to respond calmly and constructively when under stress
18. Adaptable and flexible work attitude
19. Ability to learn and use a range of strategies to deal with classroom and individual behaviour
Essential:
20. At least 40 days experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or equivalent in the past 5 years.
21. Passion for working with children with Special Educational Need
Desired but not essential qualifications:
22. A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
23. Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or similar
24. Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education or similar
25. T Level in Education and Early Years or similar
