Senior Geo-Environmental / Geotechnical Consultant
Birmingham – A large, multidisciplinary consultancy seeks a senior consultant to drive geo-environmental, geotechnical, earthworks, and remediation validation services. The role involves designing and managing earthworks, site investigations, and leading integrated project teams.
Overview
Our client, a global industry leader, delivers sustainable design solutions across sectors such as education, healthcare, defence, commercial and residential. The Birmingham team seeks a talented individual to deliver diverse Geo-environmental, Geotechnical, Earthworks, and Remediation Validation services, designing and managing earthworks, remediation projects, and supervising drilling rigs, trial pitting, logging and sampling.
Responsibilities
* Design and manage earthworks and remediation projects, including site investigation works.
* Lead on‑site supervision of drilling rigs, trial pitting, logging and sampling.
* Write comprehensive reports and manage projects from start to finish.
* Support junior staff, including Graduates and Apprentices, providing mentorship.
* Collaborate with centres such as civils, structural, and flood risk teams.
Qualifications
* BSc, BEng or higher in geology, civil engineering, environmental science, etc.
* Professional membership (e.g. Geological Society).
* Proven track record supervising site investigations and medium to large‑scale earthworks and remediation projects.
* Strong knowledge of BS5930, BS10175 and EA LC:RM.
* Experience core logging in accordance with BS5930:2015+A1:2020.
* Understanding of geology, ground investigation, contaminated land and geotechnics.
* Knowledge of typical ground condition interpretation and correlation methods.
* Supervision, reporting, and management of geotechnical and geo‑environmental investigation works.
* Background as an NEC Site Supervisor a significant advantage.
* Experience with CL:AIRE Definition of Waste Code of Practice beneficial.
* Health and Safety expertise for Ground Investigations.
* Developing geotechnical analysis and design of foundations, retaining structures, slope stability and earthworks.
* Excellent technical report writing skills (Desk Studies, Ground Investigation Reports, Remediation and Validation reports, Coal Mining Risk Assessments).
* Self‑motivated, proactive, independent thinker.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Desire to develop technical skills and appetite for growth and learning.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
