About the Role
Our technicians provide the essential link between the team leader and the team’s operatives. In this role you’ll become a specialist in Works Delivery Signalling. Technicians work outdoors in all conditions, often transporting equipment across varied terrains. You’ll be safety focused, respectful of rules, and a team player, often working next to moving trains travelling at high speed.
You may have the opportunity to lead the team when asked by the team leader and will help ensure safe working practices and the right competencies to meet our safety standards. We support your development with training to build both technical and non-technical skills, enabling a rewarding career in rail.
Responsibilities
* Provide the essential link between the team leader and operatives in the Works Delivery Signalling discipline.
* Work outdoors in all conditions, performing demanding manual work and transporting equipment as required.
* Lead the team when requested and ensure the team has the right competencies to meet safety standards.
* Model safe working behaviours and proactively identify and challenge potential safety risks.
What You'll Need
* Leadership ability to motivate and direct a team for safe and efficient work delivery.
* Effective communication skills to give clear instructions.
* Technical knowledge and experience in inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques relevant to the discipline.
* Commitment to safety, capable of implementing safe systems of work and challenging unsafe situations.
* Problem-solving mindset with a drive to develop skills and stay up to date with standards and procedures.
* Willingness to learn and develop, with evidence of transferable skills if applying from another industry.
* Relevant qualification preferred (NVQ Level 1 or 2 related to the discipline) or equivalent experience.
Additional Information
* Shifts involve changing patterns including days, nights and weekends.
* Outdoor work in all weathers; comfortable with varying conditions.
* Drug and alcohol testing and relevant medical and BPSS pre-employment checks; hearing and eyesight assessments may be required.
* Driving licence (category B) required to operate Network Rail vehicles.
* Within a 60-minute commute of the location you’re applying for.
What We Offer and How to Apply
Salary: Standard Maintenance Contract – £37,073.00 per annum. Closing date: 17 October 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.
