HGV Drainage Engineer
Sapphire Utility Solutions are seeking a Class 2 HGV driver to operate our Gully Wagons on our Highways Division based in Bamber Bridge.
About The Role
Driving / operating one of our specialist highways HGV vehicles. We utilise a state‑of‑the‑art system called Samsara that allows drivers to report defects on a daily basis to ensure the vehicle is safe and roadworthy at all times.
Part of your role as a HGV driver will be to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and safe to use at the start of each shift. You will be expected to integrate into the highways department, which currently holds long‑standing contracts with several councils including Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire, Wigan and Cumbria.
The role will include gully cleaning, drainage investigation, CCTV of highway drainage and working closely with our TM department on strategically critical highway routes to ensure road users can go about their business on a daily basis. There is a minimal IT requirement – full training will be provided.

Location: Bamber Bridge, Preston
Hours: 50 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 6am‑4pm)
Salary: £35,750 per annum (overtime paid at a time and a half)
Bonus: Based on productivity.
This is a full‑time position within a growing, busy department.
Responsibilities – But Not Limited To
* Operate a Highway HGV vehicle – training given to the right candidate.
* Report defects in a timely manner.
* Time‑keeping is imperative; lateness will not be tolerated.
* Full PPE will be issued and must be worn at all times while on site.
Experience and Qualifications Required for the Role
* HGV Class 2 driving licence (essential)
* Excellent listening and communication skills
* Team player
* Positive, can‑do attitude
* CPC licence and Tacho card (essential)
