The PrescribingClerk is responsible for processing repeat prescriptions accurately andefficiently, ensuring patients receive their medication in a timely manner. Therole involves liaising with GPs, pharmacists, patients, and other healthcareprofessionals to support safe and effective prescribing within the practice.

Job responsibilities
Prescription Processing
* Process repeat prescription requests via online systems, email, and in person.
* Ensure all prescriptions are issued in accordance with practice protocols and prescribing policies.
* Working with GP based pharmacists
* Prepare prescriptions for GP review and signature.
* Monitor and manage prescription queries.
Medication Management Support
* Update and maintain accurate patient medication records on the clinical system.
* Identify and highlight medication review dates to clinicians.
* Assist in medication synchronisation and repeat dispensing processes.
* Support the practice in achieving prescribing targets and cost-effective prescribing.
Communication
* Respond to patient queries regarding prescriptions in a professional and courteous manner.
* Liaise with community pharmacies regarding prescription issues.
* Communicate effectively with GPs, nurses, and other practice staff.
Administrative Duties
* Maintain confidentiality in line with GDPR and NHS guidance.
* File, scan, and manage prescribing-related documentation.
* Participate in audits and prescribing reports as required.
* Support general administrative tasks within the practice when necessary.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Knowledge of NHS prescribing procedures.
* Understanding of medication terminology.
* Good understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* IT proficiency (clinical systems such as System One.
* Previous experience in a GP practice.
