Do you want to make a lasting positive change to the environment? As a Technical Author in the UK BAT team you can. Large slaughterhouses and animal‑by‑products installations are required to use ‘Best Available Techniques’ (BAT) to reduce emissions to air, water and land. We’ve established a process for the definition of BAT within the UK. The regime will use the BAT concept principles of a transparent, collaborative, data‑led process that safeguards and builds on the current high levels of environmental protection. Central to this process will be the UK BAT Author.
Responsibilities
* Draft BAT conclusions, liaise with Technical Working Groups and present a final document suitable for publication as a new UK‑wide environmental standard for industry.
* Manage project timelines and deliverables.
* Travel and overnight stays may be required.
Qualifications
* At least five (5) years of working experience with a solid understanding of environmental regulation in the industry.
* Specialist knowledge of the slaughterhouse and animal‑by‑products industry.
* Strong understanding of process engineering, environmental issues and UK/EU industrial environmental legislation, including the IED and the Environmental Permitting Regulations.
* Capability to critically analyse technical arguments and data, and to write technical documents.
* Excellent project management, communication, relationship‑building and consensus‑building skills.
* Committed to an inclusive, diverse workforce.
Additional Information
Contract up to two years, flexible working arrangements available. Applications will be assessed “blindly” using competency questions. Interviews via MS Teams. A reserve list will be maintained for up to six months.
