Job Description
Purpose of the Role:
To provide high-quality teaching of Physical Education across the school (EYFS to KS4), acting as a maternity cover. The role requires a specialist in GCSE PE, including the management and assessment of coursework, alongside general PE teaching duties, fixture support and extra-curricular involvement, sharing supervision duties at breaks and lunch and minimal support for the boarding house (typically until 6pm one evening every 3 weeks and a Saturday duty twice in the year).
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
* Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and challenging PE lessons across all key stages, from Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) up to Key Stage 4 (KS4) inclusive.
* Specialise in the teaching of GCSE PE (Theory and Practical components) and ensure the effective delivery of the examination syllabus.
* Oversee, manage and internally assess GCSE PE non-examined assessment (coursework) components, ensuring full compliance with examination board requirements and deadlines.
* Maintain high standards of discipline and pastoral care within the PE setting.
* Set and mark student work in line with school policy and provide constructive feedback to facilitate progress.
Assessment and Reporting:
* Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of students in line with school and national policies.
* Attend departmental and whole-school meetings as required by the part-time schedule.
Extra-Curricular and School Life:
* Contribute to the school's sports extra-curricular programme, specifically by assisting with the organisation, supervision and coaching of fixtures for both Junior (Primary) and Senior (Secondary) students, and overseeing one afternoon extra curricular club/activity
* Promote the health and well-being of all students through the PE curriculum.
Other Duties:
* Undertake professional duties as directed by the PE Co-ordinator or Head of School, commensurate with the role of a part-time teacher.
* Contribute positively to the overall ethos of the school.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
Experience & Knowledge:
* Recent and successful experience teaching Physical Education across the wide age range (EYFS to KS4).
* Proven experience in teaching the GCSE PE examination course.
* Experience of overseeing, assessing, and moderating GCSE PE coursework.
* Experience in assisting with school sports fixtures and managing extra-curricular clubs.
* Excellent subject knowledge of Physical Education, including the theory and practical components of the GCSE curriculum.
* Proven ability to plan, resource, and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons to students of all abilities.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check and all other necessary safeguarding checks.
