Senior Lecturer in Agriculture
Location: Cirencester, and locations in China, including Qingdao Agricultural University, Shandong Agricultural University and Shenyang University.
Salary: Grade 9: A GBP 44,746 : A GBP 56,535, dependent upon experience
Hours : 35 hours per week

The Role
The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced academic to join our team focused on delivering teaching and research support in China.
The RAU offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in collaboration with our university partners in China. We are seeking professional and passionate individuals with relevant subject expertise to support delivery of a number of post graduate programmes. While the position is UK based, you should expect to be working in China for some of your time. China teaching will take place in both semester one and semester two, and would not normally exceed a 6:week period in each. You will be provided with free staff accommodation in China, two round trip flights per annum, suitable health insurance, support with a visa application, and other related expenses, including a payment of A GBP 40 per day for subsistence when you are in China.

The successful applicant will be expected to pursue ambitious research and / or knowledge exchange programme that aligns with our science:based and practice:centred approach. Applicants will need to demonstrate a proven academic record of research and scholarship in areas that are relevant to this role and to demonstrate an enthusiasm for teaching to be practice:led and enriched with real:world examples.
The main purpose of this role is to support postgraduate teaching and research in one or more of the following disciplinary areas:
* Sustainable Agriculture Systems
* International Rural Development and Food Security
* Applied Natural and Environmental Science
* Computing and Information Technology in Precision Agriculture
* Environmental Technology and Innovation
* Crop Production Technology and Innovation
* Livestock Production Technology and Innovation
Person Specification
* Degree (or relevant professional experience).
* Higher Degree in a relevant discipline.
* Experience of undergraduate and / or postgraduate teaching.
* Ability to develop a programme of research and scholarship aligned strategic priorities.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
* Able to travel and work away when required (nationally and internationally).
