Our Health in Justice service line is expanding into non-Custodial healthcare, a person-centred approach delivered via a solid and consolidated infrastructure to assess individuals mental health and neurodiversity requirements and redirect them to the most appropriate channel. We have an exciting opportunity for a Support Time and Recovery Navigator to join our team in North Yorkshire.
As a Support Time and Recovery Navigator, you will be involved in the daily support of people across the Liaison and Diversion Service to encourage engagement and help them navigate through the Criminal Justice System. The role is to support access to the full scope of identified health needs, including substance misuse (alcohol and drugs), mental and physical health, homelessness, learning disabilities, exploitation, safeguarding and social care issues.
Location Scarborough Police Station - some travel may be required.
Salary This full-time role is 37.5 hours per week with a salary of £28,247 to £32,346 depending on experience. Hours 8am – 6pm over a 7 day period (37.5 hours per week).
Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK due to the nature of the role; offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job
As a Support Time and Recovery Navigator, your responsibilities will include:
* being part of an extended team working across the Liaison & Diversion service
* liaising with a wide range of services such as the police, probation, courts and legal services, as well as inpatient and community health and social care services
* supporting daily engagement with people in touch with children and adults, including those from hard-to-reach communities, to engage and navigate through the Criminal Justice System
* facilitating access to the full scope of identified health needs, including substance misuse, mental and physical health, homelessness, learning disabilities, exploitation, safeguarding and social care issues
* providing practical support to individuals, maintaining a programme of support, working with their families, advocating and enabling access to agencies including probation services, community-based organisations, clinics, courts, mental health services and hospitals

Qualifications, skills and experience required:
* Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health and/or Social Care or equivalent experience
* Experience of working with service users, face to face, with a variety of health needs
* Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
* Excellent communication skills and ability to gain appropriate level of consent
* Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety
* Knowledge of evidence based practice, health promotion, NICE guidelines
* Proactive problem solving skills
* Flexible attitude to working arrangements
* Motivated as an individual and when working in a team
* Patient centred values and ability to promote service user involvement
