Job overview
The post holder will be responsible for a range of administration duties to support the Aylesbury & Wycombe NHS Breast Screening Programme and the symptomatic breast imaging service and will be the first point of contact for our patients and visitors, working on our busy reception desk in our Breast Unit and in our busy Admin Office.

Main duties of the job
1. To act as the first point of contact for a range of telephone calls and in-person when covering reception duties.
2. To use the National breast screening system to arrange/change appointments for women called for breast screening, considering the needs of the client and patient choice.
3. Where it is not possible to provide a suitable appointment time for a lady, the post holder is expected to use her initiative and, where necessary, liaise with a senior member of staff.
4. Monitor the availability of appointment slots and highlight shortfall to the Office Manager.
5. To use own initiative to adjust allocated timeslots to accommodate clients with a variety of special needs.
6. To be responsible for entering changes to demographic details and entering recall results from the screening episode onto the computer, ensuring the appropriate end point action to be transmitted to the national database in accordance with the departmental Quality Management System.

Education, Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
17. Education to GCSE or Equivalent
18. Customer Service NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience
19. Recognised computer qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
20. Experience of dealing face to face and over the phone with patients/customers in an office enviroment
21. Use and application of computers
22. Basic knowledge of medical terminology
23. Database entry experience
Desirable criteria
24. Previous experience in the NHS BSS
