Role Overview:
Wood is urgently seeking to recruit a Principal Structural Engineer with brownfield Oil & Gas experience to support our current modifications portfolio and the detailed engineering phase of a Polymer Injection Phase 1 project in support of one our major UK clients.
The polymer injection project involves topside modifications for the bunkering, storage, pumping, mixing and injection of Polymer emulsion for a Pilot well. The polymer injection downhole increases the viscosity of the injected water to increase oil recovery.
The modifications portfolio consists of the following types of scopes:
1. Concept/Define Studies
2. Rolling programme of Flowline & Well Hook-Up Scopes.
3. Production Enhancement Improvements
4. Carbon Reduction Scopes
5. Anomalies & Repair Order scopes.
Primary focus of the role is to provide structural engineering expertise to the project team. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the structural team, providing design expertise to ensure delivery of projects to tight timescales in accordance with Client expectations. The individual will be expected to work largely under his/her own direction and will report to the contract Lead Structural Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
6. Provision of structural engineering expertise input to projects.
7. Define structural engineering requirements for technical scopes.
8. Development of deliverables and documentation for use in offshore construction workpacks.
9. Prepare purchase requisitions for the procurement of structural fabrications/special items.
10. Ability/expertise to undertake engineering checking & approvals.
11. Provide support to the Lead Structural Engineer.
12. Provide support for interdisciplinary considerations through attendance at design reviews and IDC checking.
13. Execute facility engineering design in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
14. Carry out work in accordance with company and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems.
15. Provide discipline specific guidance and coordinate delivery with remote team members in Global Execution Centres.
Discipline Specific Requirements:
16. Brownfield Oil & Gas Structural Engineering Experience essential. Experience in the following areas would suit this role:
17. Hot and Cold Connection design.
18. Pipe support design.
19. Retrofit deck extensions.
20. Vendor Package Support Grillage design.
21. Transportation & Lifting Solutions.
22. Local Deck Strengthening.
23. Weight Control reporting.
24. Access Platforms, Ladder & Stair Design.
25. Proficient with specialist software packages (MathCad, STAADpro)
26. Knowledge of International Codes & Client Standards (. IEC, BS, Norsok, Equinor TR.
Minimum Qualifications:
27. MSc, MEng or BSc, BEng or equivalent with extensive relevant experience.
28. Familiar with technical direction and control of brownfield Oil & Gas engineering projects.
29. Chartered Engineer Status preferred but not essential.
