Role Overview:
Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment is representing a leading professional services firm in their search for an Assistant General Counsel to join their in-house legal team. The ideal candidate is an experienced commercial lawyer specializing in technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI. The successful candidate will provide practical, business-focused legal advice to the company's global operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide legal support on various legal and regulatory issues for a global professional services organization.
* Advise on technology, data privacy, data protection, AI, and related matters, supporting day-to-day commercial and regulatory legal activities.
* Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations across jurisdictions and within company policies.
* Support the Technology and Risk Management teams with legal expertise.
* Develop and implement governance, policies, procedures, and playbooks.
* Review and advise on new services and solutions, including governance processes and legal/regulatory considerations related to technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI.
* Manage external legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring cost-effective and efficient work.
* Deliver practical, business-oriented advice while managing risk and compliance.
* Present on legal topics and contribute articles as needed.
* Mentor and support junior team members.
Candidate Profile:
* UK-qualified lawyer (or equivalent outside the UK) with significant experience at a major law firm or relevant in-house experience.
* Strong legal skills with the ability to handle complex legal and regulatory issues.
* Strategic risk management skills, with the ability to identify issues and suggest mitigation strategies.
* Experience negotiating, drafting, and reviewing commercial agreements across jurisdictions.
* Ability to work independently and manage complex files, collaborating effectively with teams.
* Capable of balancing legal risk management with business growth needs.
* Self-motivated, thriving in a fast-paced, global environment.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Additional Details:
* Location: London (hybrid working – 1-2 days in the office per week)
* Permanent role
