1:1 Teaching Assistant (ASD) – Primary School, Sefton (ASAP Start)
A supportive primary school in Sefton is seeking apassionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work closely with a pupil diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This role requires patience, consistency, and a genuinemitment to helping the child thrive both academically and emotionally. Immediate start available.
Role Responsibilities
1. Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD, helping them access learning throughout the school day.
2. Assist withmunication, emotional regulation, and social interaction needs.
3. Follow structured routines and use tailored strategies to support engagement.
4. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to implement personalised support plans.
5. Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
6. Support the child during transitions and unstructured times.
Experience Needed
7. Experience working with children in a school or childcare environment.
8. Experience supporting children with SEN, especially autism ormunication needs, is highly desirable.
9. Confidence using visual supports, routine‑based strategies, or de‑escalation techniques (advantageous).
10. Strongmunication skills and a calm, nurturing approach.
Qualifications
11. Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (, CACHE/NCFE).
12. GCSE English & Maths (or equivalent).
13. Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).
