Projects vary greatly in specification and construction technique depending on the regional location.
Major projects include multi-unit RC frame structures in Central London, town and village regeneration, and low-rise traditional build housing.
About the opportunity:
As a Town Planner, you will play a pivotal role in land acquisition and planning, working closely with land, design, and technical teams. Your responsibilities will include driving planning applications, managing external consultants, and ensuring developments meet policy and community expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead on the preparation, submission, and negotiation of planning applications for residential schemes.
* Manage planning appeals, discharge of conditions, and Section 106 agreements.
* Liaise with local authorities, consultants, and stakeholders throughout the planning process.
* Provide strategic planning advice to support land acquisition and site promotion.
* Monitor changes in planning policy and advise on implications for projects.
* Contribute to the preparation of design & access statements, planning statements, and public consultation materials.
Benefits and rewards:
The salary will depend on experience within the residential industry, with a basic salary up to £45k DOE. Additional benefits include a car allowance, bonus, private medical cover, and an enhanced pension.
Requirements:
* RTPI-accredited degree (or equivalent) in Town Planning or related field.
* MRTPI qualified or working towards chartership.
* Proven residential planning experience, ideally with a developer or consultancy background.
* Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and local government processes.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Proactive, detail-oriented, and commercially aware.
