Job Summary
We are seeking a Consultant Gastroenterologist to work at Northampton General Hospital, supporting a specialist Gastroenterology service. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, including endoscopy, and contribute to service development within the Trust. Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive gastroenterology services at Northampton General Hospital. Deliver specialist inpatient, outpatient and endoscopy services. Demonstrate proficiency in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy (upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy). Participate in the Gastroenterology on‑call rota, providing advice and support for emergency Gastroenterology and GI bleed services. Carry out teaching duties and contribute to the Postgraduate Medical Education programme. Teach and mentor other healthcare professionals within the department and across the Trust. Attend departmental educational meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings and governance sessions. Play an active role in the clinical audit programme and participate in regional and national audits. Report critical incidents and attend audit and clinical governance meetings. Essential Qualifications and Training
FRCOph or equivalent. Completion of specialty training (or within 6 months of AAC). Full registration with the General Medical Council. Desirable Qualifications and Training
MD, PhD or other higher degree. Education or Medical Education qualification (preferably at Master’s level). Specialist interest that complements other consultants in the department. Publications in recognised journals. Teaching, Audit, and Leadership Experience
