JOB TITLE: Business Improvement Specialist (Warehouse & Distribution)
SITE LOCATION: Telford – Hortonwood
HOURS OF WORK: Monday-Friday (37.5 hrs)
REPORTS TO: Business Improvement Manager
Job Purpose:
Responsible for the ongoing improvement and support of core warehousing and distribution processes, facilitating the implementation of improvement projects focused on receipt & replenishment, picking, dispatch, inventory control, and logistics efficiency at the Hortonwood site.
This role will work closely with operational teams to identify and deliver measurable improvements aligned with business goals.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Monitor the adherence of company policies and safe systems of work throughout the Hortonwood site.
2. Project a positive attitude in all aspects of your work and collaborate with cross functional departments to promote a strong team culture.
3. Facilitate development projects in line with the WSD operational strategy using A3 / Obeya approach.
4. Challenge current working practices and exercise creativity and innovation in resolving issues.
5. Support implementation of WMS enhancements and warehouse layout optimisation.
6. Provide visibility and control of critical core process parameters.
7. Drive improvements in pick accuracy, lines picked per FTE, and inventory accuracy.
8. Ensure KPI targets for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People & Environment are consistently achieved.
9. Provide practical and analytical justification to enable effective delivery of warehousing & distribution improvement projects.
10. Ensure effective communication to staff of project scope / potential benefits, changes to systems, processes and/or procedures.
11. Work with respective colleagues to resolve low level core process issues.
12. Reduce wasted time and unnecessary cost within the business processes.
13. Provide clear & accurate analysis / reports that measure improvements made.
14. Adherence to all organisational policies, management systems and standard operational procedures, including legal responsibilities in relation to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality.
15. Work positively to develop and foster good working relationships with colleagues and contracted personnel to maintain a culture of mutual respect and dignity.
16. Represent the organisation in a positive way as to avoid the damage of corporate image or bringing the company into disrepute.

Key Experiences and Skills Required:
18. Good practical understanding of business improvement, 5S workplace organisation, visual management, A3 problem solving, project management, lean manufacturing and operations excellence is required.
19. Proven experience in warehouse operations and logistics performance improvement.
20. Strong understanding of WMS systems and warehouse layout design.
21. Ability to lead cross-functional improvement projects and engage stakeholders.

23. Experience within a Business Improvement role previously
