A leading Main Contractor delivering large-scale construction projects across the UK is seeking a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Hull. The business is renowned for delivering technically challenging projects across sectors such as industrial, logistics, commercial, and mixed-use developments — with individual schemes valued between £40m - £90m.

Role Overview:
You’ll support the commercial management of live construction projects, assisting in cost control, procurement, valuations, and contract administration. Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and project delivery team, you’ll ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets, forecasts, and cash flows
* Support procurement and subcontractor management, including tendering and negotiation
* Prepare valuations, variations, and final accounts
* Monitor project costs and provide accurate financial reporting
* Support project teams in managing risk, change control, and contractual compliance
* Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
* Contribute to continuous improvement and efficiency within the commercial function
Experience & Requirements:
* Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor within a Main Contractor environment
* Good understanding of JCT or NEC forms of contract
* Degree qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
* Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ambitious, proactive, and eager to progress within a reputable contractor
