Civil Design Engineer Location: Cardiff | Hybrid Working Type: Full Time, Permanent An established, multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join its growing civil and infrastructure team in Cardiff. The business delivers integrated engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors, with a particularly strong and growing portfolio in data centres, alongside commercial, residential, industrial, education and mixed-use developments. This is an excellent opportunity for a civil engineer looking to develop technically while working within a collaborative, design-led environment on complex, high-profile projects across the UK. The Role You will support the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure designs from early feasibility through to detailed design and construction. Working closely with other disciplines, you will contribute to coordinated solutions that meet client, regulatory and sustainability requirements. Key responsibilities include: Design of highways, drainage and external works for development projects Preparation of drainage strategies, Flood Risk Assessments and detailed drainage designs Design of SuDS solutions in line with current best practice and guidance Highway designs including access roads, junctions and estate roads Production of drawings, calculations and technical reports Coordination with internal multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders Supporting planning applications and technical approvals Assisting with construction phase support and responding to technical queries About You You will be a motivated civil engineer with a consultancy background and a strong technical foundation in infrastructure design. You should demonstrate: A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline Experience in highways and/or drainage design for development projects Working knowledge of UK standards and guidance (DMRB, Manual for Streets, CIRIA, Sewerage Sector Guidance, local authority standards) Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D (or similar design software) Familiarity with drainage software such as InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow or similar Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams Working towards Chartership (ICE or equivalent), or keen to do so Experience working on data centre projects or other complex infrastructure-led developments would be particularly advantageous, but is not essential.
